A lot of people are now getting into online businesses and online marketing either to supplement their “real world” income or for it to become their primary source of income.  Why?  Because online marketing just provides them a lot of benefits!

First, you can reach just about anybody in the world who has Internet access if you market your products online.  That means a wider market for you, which can translate to larger profits.  Second, setting up an online business requires only a fraction of the cost required to set up an actual business establishment, which means a lot of savings for the business owner.

Another aspect that has attracted a lot of people towards online marketing is the fact that one doesn’t have to have his own products to get started.  In online marketing, one can start making a lot of money just by selling, or even by just trying to sell, other people’s products.  And getting started with this kind of marketing strategy is actually quite easy.  All that one needs to do is to set up an agreement with an online retailer or merchant, and after everything is settled, one can immediately start making money by selling the merchant’s or the retailer’s products.

Incidentally, the most popular and the fastest growing method of selling other people’s products online is affiliate marketing.  Affiliate marketing, in its simplest definition, is a relationship between an online merchant or retailer, who has products to sell, and his affiliates, who are willing to promote the merchant’s product on their website.

In a typical affiliate marketing set up, the merchant provides his affiliates with banners and text ads that links to his site.  The affiliates will then get these ads posted on their website and they get paid whenever traffic or sales is directed to the merchant’s website.  Affiliates are often paid on commission basis, although other online merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee for the affiliate’s compensation.

Starting to make money online with affiliate marketing is relatively quick and easy.  All that one has to do is to sign up as an affiliate for an online company that offers affiliate programs.  An alternative method, and usually an easier one, is to sign up as a member of an affiliate network—a network that hosts a variety of affiliate programs for different online merchants or retailers.  Signing up is usually free, although other companies and networks may require you to pay a particular fee.  Such fees, however, are made as payment for additional services that the company may render, like providing you with tools and assistance to jumpstart your online business.

Compensation comes in either of three ways: pay-per-click (PPC), pay-per-sale (PPS), or pay-per-lead (PPL).  In pay-per-click affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever he directs traffic to the merchant’s site.  PPS and PPL affiliate marketing programs work rather differently.  In PPS, the affiliate only gets paid when his referral converts into an actual sale.  In typical PPS affiliate programs, the affiliate would usually get 15% to 20% commission for each conversion.  PPL affiliate programs work the same way, although affiliates are paid a fixed fee whenever his referral converts into a lead for the company.

Some affiliate marketing programs are two-tier programs, wherein the affiliate is also allowed to recommend other affiliates to the merchant.  In such affiliate programs, the affiliate would not only be paid for the traffic or sales that he would direct to the merchant’s site but also for the traffic or sales directed by the affiliates who signed up with the program through his recommendation.

Yet another way of earning more profits is through residual partnership programs.  Residual affiliate programs are affiliate programs where the affiliate gets paid a number of times for as long as the merchant keeps the customer the affiliate has referred to his site.  One form of residual program gets the affiliate paid a commission every time the referred customer purchases something on the merchant’s site.  Another form of residual affiliate program gets the affiliate paid a percentage every month for as long as the company keeps the referred customer.

With a lot of options available and a lot of ways to earn money, partner programs undoubtedly the most popular and the easiest way to make money by selling other people’s products online.  As to how much money one can get from affiliate marketing actually depends on the affiliate.  A dedicated and hardworking affiliate would certainly get more from the program compared to those affiliates who would simply sign up and forget about the program later.

How you can start earning money with Adsense can be done easily and quickly. You will be amazed at the results you will be getting in such a short period of time.

Start by writing some quality content articles which are also keyword incorporated. There are a lot of people given the gift of being good with words. Writing comes easy for them. Why not make it work in such a way that you will be earning some extra cash in the process.

There are actually three steps to put into mind before you begin writing your ads and having an effective Adsense.

Keyword search. Find some popular subjects, keywords or phrase. Select the ones which you think has more people clicking through. This is actually a keyword selector and suggestion tool that some sites are offering to those who are just their Adsense business.

Writing articles. Start writing original content with keywords from the topics that you have achieved in your search. Take note that search engines are taking pride in the quality of their articles and what you will be writing should keep up with their demands.

Quality content site.  Build a quality content site incorporated with Adsense ads that is targeting the subject and keywords of your articles and websites. This is where all that you’ve done initially will go to and this is also where they will prove their worth to you.

According to research, the one place that surfers look first when they visit a certain site is the top left. The reason behind this is not known. Maybe it is because some of the most useful search engine results are at the top of all other rankings. So visitors tend to look in that same place when browsing through other sites.

Some of those who are just starting at this business may think they are doing pretty well already and thinking that their clickthrough rates and CPM figures are quite healthy. However, there are more techniques and styles to generate more clicks to double your earnings. By knowing these techniques and working them to your advantage, you will realize that you will be getting three times more than other people who have been previously doing what they are doing.

Finally, Adsense has some excellent tracking statistics that allows webmasters and publishers to track their results across a number of site on a site by site, page by page, or any other basis you wanted. Another thing you should know. Banners and skyscrapers are dead. Ask the experts. So better forget about banners and skyscrapers. Surfers universally ignore these kinds of ad formats. The reason behind this is that they are recognized as an advert and advert are rarely of any interest that’s why people ignore them.

To really start making money with Adsense, you should have a definite focus on what you wanted to achieve and how you will go about achieving them. As with any other kind of business ventures, time is needed coupled with patience.

There are a lot of factors that go into deciding what strategy to use for making money online and how and where to apply it.  I’m going to talk about what I think about when it comes to applying strategies.

The first thing I think about is, is it feasible?  What is the earnings potential?  How long do I think it will take me to become profitable?  How much time and effort is it going to take?

It depends on the person and their skills, it depends on the strategy and it depends on the market.  Certain strategies don’t work very well in certain niche markets.  The big thing is you should play to your strengths.  I can write very quickly, so any niche or any strategy where I can write and make money, are good situations to put myself in.  I’m heavily involved in product creation, in a number of different niche markets because it is so easy for me to write and create products quickly.  I also enjoy writing, so it is an added bonus.  I would hate to have to do things that I absolutely despise.  Creating big websites from scratch is one of those things that drives me crazy.  I’m not a big technical guy either.  I can do most of those technical online activities, but it drives me crazy. It takes me a long time and I find it to be so darn boring that I would never want to do very much of it.

A lot of people that get into Internet Marketing are people that don’t like their job and they want to like their job.  If you quit your job and become an Internet Marketer and you don’t like the work you’re doing as an Internet Marketer, then you are kind of defeating the purpose of becoming an Internet Marketer.

Loving what you do is a big part of it.  It is something that you really can’t put a price on.  On the flip side of that coin, one of the great things about Internet Marketing is that you work your own hours.  You can put in that hard work early on to build your business and gradually scale back how much you have to work.  I started out putting in probably ten to twelve hour days, on average.  I’m now putting in about three hours a day, on average.

There are many different ways to make money online. One of the most common is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is all about getting paid for selling products you don’t own and not going to jail for it.  Someone else goes through all of the trouble to develop software programs, service, or digital content products.  They’ll do all the work then you collect the money!

Affiliate marketing is a revenue sharing arrangement between the product developer, known as the affiliate merchant, and the affiliate marketer who is anyone that’s willing to promote the sale of product by advertising the product using any type of legal means available.

The relationship will allow the affiliate merchant to grow their revenue by paying only for the advertising that results in a sale.  The affiliate marketer will profit by making a percentage on a sale that he does not have to manage after the sale.

Getting paid Getting paid all depends upon how the affiliate program is set up.  Some merchants will run their own affiliate program.  They’ll have special types of software that assigns each affiliate marketer a special link that’s used in promoting the product.

The software will track sales of every marketer and the merchant will pay the commission on a periodic basis using either PayPal or another method of payment.

Selecting products or services

Your income is directly tied to how well your selected product or service sells, and the size of the commission you earn, which makes it very important that you choose carefully when it comes to choosing the affiliate merchant you’ll be partnering with. Choose programs that you aren’t embarrassed to promote and programs that you’ll feel comfortable recommending to your family and friends if they

were to ask you about it.

You’ll do much better if you promote products that you fully understand and are already familiar with.  This way, you’ll be able to write better ads without having to strain yourself coming up with the right things to say. You should only promote products and services for companies who have gone through the trouble to provide you with training programs and sales aids such as banners and other marketing materials that you can either use directly or model the one you own after.

Be on the lookout for programs with commission rates no less than 50%.  You should give preference to programs that pay commission on multiple levels, which means you’ll also have to earn commissions on sales made by people who buy the products through your link then go on and become affiliates themselves later on.

The best way to find keywords for your niche subject is to use a keyword software program and type in the word that is the subject of your niche. This will generate a list of keywords or phrases that contain your niche and will also show you approximately how many people search for each word or phrase. Some software programs may also tell you how many sites are out there to compete with for each word or phrase (this will help you know if those sites are worth competing with for the number of searches out there). You then deicide which of these would be most profitable by determining which have the least amount of competitors, so that you have a chance at making it to the first or second page of search engine results, but that also have a decent amount of people looking for that keyword or phrase each month. These will be the keywords or phrases that you will base the pages of your niche site on.

If there are a number of topics that you like, pick the one that you feel would be easiest to start with and then, once that site is built and generating some revenue, you can start another site. The most profitable website marketers, who use their talent of finding niches and combining that with good site content and a handful of affiliate links, have a good amount and variety of niche sites that they have started. You are never limited in what you can do with niche website marketing, unless you find out that you do not have the marketing skills or the needed funding to make it happen. Otherwise, the sky is the limit!

There are three main types of people that attempt to make money online.

The first person is the person that sees all the ads on television andfalls for the ads that promise the moon, with no work.  They may fall for it once and give up.  Some of them sleeplessly keep falling for the same crap over and over again.  The second type of person is a person that thinks there is one master strategy that is complex, but pays off right away and makes them rich. These are the people that buy product after product and never put them to use.  Always looking for an easy way out.

Those first two groups make up the biggest portions of the people who want to make money online.   There is another group of people that have the right mindset about making money online.  They are the people that go back to a tried and true method of success. They go to a model that has worked in pretty much any endeavor ever undertaken by man.  They realize that they have to take action, first off.  Without action, nothing happens.  Secondly, they decide that they are going to put, dare I say, hard work into it.

Think about Michael Jordan.  Everyone says his success is tied to his talent.  Yes he obviously had tremendous talent, but talent isn’t what made him great.  What made him great was that he practiced longer and played harder than everyone else.  If you find a winning formula, throw your effort into that.  It’s that simple.  Say you have a product and a sales page.  The final part of the equation is obviously traffic.

I see so many people who have a great product and get a sales page and they freeze up and either don’t know what to do or they have just put too much work into the product and the sales page and they haven’t seen a dime, so they don’t want to go through the work of getting traffic.  It really breaks my heart because I have helped people with their product and their sales page and they just don’t bother to get traffic to it.  It’s like people have been inundated and that all you need is that site and you will start making money.  In reality, once you get the site or sales page up and running, your work has just begun.  That’s a hard pill for a lot of people swallow.

That’s the simple equation.  Have a good product, get a converting sales page and send traffic to it.  Get as targeted traffic as possible and that’s really it.  That’s obviously just one strategy for making money online, but that is a simple formula that will always work.  We can sometimes really out think ourselves when it comes to making money online.

Let’s jump right into this.  If you’re an Internet Marketer, chances are that you will have to do a TON of reading.  Since you have to do a TON of reading, take a speed reading course.  The faster you can read the more time you will have to devote to your online business.  I read a ton of products, a ton of articles, a ton of forum posts, a ton of e-mails.

Don’t spend too much time on online forums

Online forums are a great place to learn and network, but if a person is spending too much time talking about making money online and not focusing on making money online,  that’s not a good thing.

Use private label rights!

This can save you so much time and effort.  Find yourself a membership site or two with PLR rights to their products andbecome a member.

There are a couple of reasons for doing this.  You obviously want as manypeople as possible to read it.  For one, it ensures that the reader doesnt have to scroll to the side to read it.  If I have to scroll to the side to read something, I just won’t do it.  It’s too much of a pain and I don’t have the patience.  Another thing is that people are more inclined to read something if it doesn’t look like it’s going to be that hard to read or be that long. That’s what you want, you want them to start reading.

Outsource the things that aren’t worth your time

I outsource a lot of customer service and a lot of the technical expects of Internet Marketing. I feel my time is better spent doing other tasks.  I could build my own websites or do my own graphics etc., but it would take me a lot longer and it won’t be as nice.

Use your real name

This is a simple one, but I see so many people not doing this.  You build name reputation and people are more likely to buy from someone, if they know your real name.  Look at pretty much all of the successful marketers out there.  Guess what name they use?  Their real name.  Your reputation is vital, you have to have a good reputation, if you don’t, you won’t be in Internet Marketing  very long.

There are two major types of business models that entrepreneurs use to make money blogging. The first and most common way to turn a blog into a profit making machine is to sell advertising to different companies and brands who want to reach that blog’s readers. The second kind of money making blog is one that helps a single brand improve its image by creating positive associations between the blog and the product in the mind of consumers. Both kinds of blogs can make a lot of money, especially if the creator has a keen mind for marketing.

If you are blogging with the goal of selling advertising, there are two basic ways that you can go about recruiting sponsors who want to put ads on your site; you can let someone else do all of the legwork, or you can do the work yourself and keep all of the revenue. Within the first group, many people make money blogging by selling space through Google’s AdSense program. The advantages of this program are numerous, as it requires very little effort on the part of the blogger or webmaster to begin raking in profits. However, most people discover that they make less money through this method than they had hoped that their blog would earn.

Selling advertising directly to companies who want to put banner ads or sponsored links on your blog can take quite a bit of time, but it is often fairly lucrative. If you have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the topic of your blog, you may want to try to go this route. People get into affiliate marketing for many reasons.  They don’t think that they can put together a product or offer.  That may or may not be true, but the important thing is that they believe that they can’t.  If they can’t, they don’t really fancy having to hire someone to write it or do it for them.

They don’t think that they can create a good sales page.  Again, that may or may not be true and they don’t want to shell out the big bucks and hire a professional copywriter.  They might not want to handle the customer service.

Affiliate marketing can be a great thing.  Anyone can get into it and you can make a ton of money without having a lot of resources, but it can be a lot of work.  There are reasons why people like me create our own products and write our  own sales pages and handle customer service or pay the big bucks to outsource them.  One of the reasons is that we can get affiliates to do some of the dirty work for us.

As an affiliate you have to realize that you may have to really roll up your sleeves and get to work.  It will entail a lot of research.  You have to research products that you want to affiliate.  You have to see how their sales page converts, how much you can make a sale, what their refund rate is etc.

You also have to research how you’re going to market this product to people or the group of people that you have built relationships with.  You have to research how you’re going to stick out from the crowd and the competition and just how you’re going to go about this.  You have to figure out what strategies that you’re going to use to promote the product or offer.  A lot of successful article marketers will write between five to ten articles a day.For most people, that isn’t an easy task.  Not with all the distractions that come with the proposition of working from home.  I’m not saying this to discourage anyone, but it’s the truth.  I don’t care what strategy that you use, you better realize that you’re going to have to put some real time and effort into it, for it to start bearing some real fruit.

People try to make money online, but most fail to make a living online. They fail for a lot of different reasons.  A lot of times it’s just their own fault.  They didn’t take action, they couldn’t cut out the distractions, they couldn’t resist the temptations that the home life provides and focus on work.

I don’t want to sound like I’m all high and mighty because I’m making a full-time living online because I used to do all of those things when I started out.  I felt like an idiot and a failure.  I wasn’t either of those, but I felt like I was.

How bad do you want it?

I always ask people that because, if you want it bad enough you can do it.It’s just like anything else in life.  A buddy of mine, Willie Crawford and a bunch of members of his membership site got together and wrote an e-book over 200 pages long titled “20 Ways to make $100 a Day” or something along those lines, anyways.  Each person would write a chapter about a strategy to make $100 a day. $100 a day is pretty good money.  That’s about $3,000 a month before taxes and about $36,000 a year before taxes.  That’s a pretty good living.  You could, of course make more than $100 a day from each strategy or use multiple strategies.

I talk about this because that is 20 strategies to make a full-time living online.  I can think of a bunch more that weren’t in that e-book.  The point of this is that the information to use to make a full-time living is out there and there are a TON of people making a full-time living online.  So, you can do it.  You just have to want it bad enough to work hard and to build your online business.  Want it bad enough to cut out the distractions and focus and finish.

When I started out online, I wanted to make a full-time living online, but I didn’t want it BAD ENOUGH!  I didn’t put in the hours, I let the distractions get to me.  I would sit on the couch and drink a beer and watch TV when I should have been working.  I was going out with friends when I should have been working.  I was partying too hard and getting up too late in the morning etc.

I was young and arrogant and would always say, well I’ll go out tonight and figure out this making money online thing tomorrow, I would keep saying that.  Well, those tomorrows kept adding up and the bills also kept piling up.  I finally wanted it enough to make it!  You can too!
